A few interesting TV appearances this week:

LAST CALL WITH CARSON DALY, NBC
Mo 2/28: Dermot Mulroney, Stephen Colbert, Iron and Wine
Tu 3/1: Anderson Cooper, David Witthoft, Tori Amos

THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART, Comedy Central
Th 3/3: Ari Fleischer

THE JANE PAULEY SHOW, Syndicated
We 3/2 "Blink" author Malcolm Gladwell

Notes:
  • Iron and Wine did a really interesting acoustic cover of The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights" (my favorite song of 2003) on the soundtrack of the movie "Garden State".
  • Ari Fleischer is so slimy! I hope Jon doesn't use kid gloves with him.
  • Malcolm Gladwell did one of my favorite Pop!Tech 2004 talks last year.

Oooooooh! Stephen Colbert! *girlish sigh*

One of my favorite Stephen bits is when we was reporting on the rumors of Prince Charles being bisexual last year -- he totally cracks up in the middle of his report, brings down Jon as well, and they struggle so much to get back into character.

I hate Ari Fleischer, and Jon Stewart was perfectly nice to the bastard. When he was talking about how the president liked to break his own news, it was a perfect time to say, "The White House had pictures of the Abu Ghraib torture months before congress. When was he going to break that news?"

I was glaring at the screen the whole time.

That's too bad... I've not watched my copy of the show yet -- I usually Tivo the 9AM run because the 11PM one conflicts with other programs. The last couple of months haven't been The Daily Show's best work -- I think the staff there lost a lot of their anger.

Slate has an article about the Ari interview: http://slate.msn.com/id/2114131/. They aren't as hard on Jon, noting that Ari used the same tactics on him that he used on the White House press corp. It's an intersting analysis, but I agree more with Wonkette that it was just too many softballs.
