A Moment for Democracy

Last night at the Democracy for Texas Meetup out on the patio of Mother Egan's on 6th street, while one of the city council candidates was giving an intro, someone walked by the place and screamed out "Democracy rules!" then continued wandering down the sidewalk.

It was interesting to see the candidates for place 1 and place 4, and I'm glad to hear all of the place 3 candidates again after attending their forum over at UT. Originally, I was leaning to support Jennifer Kim in place 3, but while I still think she'd be able to provide a lot of value to the council, I'm over in the Margot Clarke camp now. For place 1, Jim Leffingwell was an obvious choice with a strong environmental background and a history of leadership. In place 4, I think I've got to support the incumbent, Betty Dunkerley. She wasn't able to attend the forum last night due to current city council business, but I didn't think any of her challengers made effective presentations.
