"The Seventh Seal" Revealed
Last night, I saw a screening of Bergman's 1957 film "The Seventh Seal" at the Paramount. I didn't quite know what to expect. I knew that someone played Death at chess, but beyond that, it was tabula rasa.

What I found was a really great film. Beautiful black and white imagery, all contrasty with great lighting. Historical drama set against the Crusades and the Black Plague. A critique of primitive religion. Moments of beauty and happiness. Art and philosophy and darkness and fire.

I'm hooked. Bring on "Wild Strawberries".
