We're Really Sorry
I hate that I have to keep apologizing for what our lawmakers do... in this case, I'm really, really sorry that Texas HJR 6 passed yesterday in the state Senate. This resolution puts an anti-gay marriage constitutional amendment on the ballot in an election this fall. It needs a simple majority to pass, and given Texas's population makeup, I think it will probably will be made law. This amendment strictly defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and it invalidates any "marriage-like" arrangements, including civil unions.

This post on austinpolitics has a lot more information about the amendment and how it changes Texas law.
