Both Amused and Saddened

Last night, I went and checked the website, and I saw that they were already soliciting funds to pay for the expected recount fight n their "General Election Legal and Accounting Compliance Fund". Hopefully, they won't need to use this a lot and will have sufficient margins to make the election uncontested, but knowing Karl Rove and some of the tricks being played this year, I'm not going to bet on that occurrence. The Stateman's Lasso blog is reporting that a Cincinatti federal appeals judge has allowed the Republicans to challenge 23,000 new voter registrations.

Oh well... at least I was able to sing to myself on Monday the lines "Don't start thinking about tomorrow! Don't start, it'll soon be here." Well, it's tomorrow, and it's likely to be tomorrow for a couple of months.

Appropriate Juxtaposition

I took this picture at lunchtime over at the elementary school next to my house, one of the voting sites here in north Austin. I just love the juxtaposition of the drop-off sign and the BC04 sign; very appropriate instructions.

Strait Ticket

I love the enthusiasm, but people, please proofread your signs before sticking them in public places and use waterproof markers. Fortunately, the other side of the sign was spelled correctly, but it suffered more from moisture damage.
