Preparation work started on Friday. Annelies worked during the day to clean up my kitchen and downstairs and to plan out the cocktails and snacks, while I helped her out with a shopping trip and with moving furniture. That night, we made cookies, then on Saturday, I was able to vacuum and clear out more clutter while she made mixers.
Guests started arriving around 7:45 with it starting to get crowded around 8:30. I had setup the Mac Mini to stream the soma.fm Xmas in Frisko channel, while showing a slideshow of pictures from Flickr that were tagged with the keyword "christmas". It was surprisingly fun to watch, especially for some of the more off-the-wall pictures. I also had my Donkey Kong Jr. cocktail arcade game hooked up and playable, something enjoyed by many of the partygoers.
Later in the evening, we pulled out some party video games on the big screen, starting with Dance Dance Revolution (I got through a one foot song, but was stumped by the three feet ones.) and then moving to the EyeToy-enhanced Sega Superstars collection, especially the House of the Dead zombie slapping game and the Virtual Striker soccer ball bouncing game.
A little before midnight, Annelies led the group on a field trip to see the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition house which was being decorated for a Sunday unveiling. There were quite a few spectators out there in the warm evening, and things were moving at full steam. After the walk, the party started to come to an end, and everyone was gone by about 1:15AM.
I've got a Flickr photo set started for the party: five pictures right now, more to be added soon. I'd like to thank everyone that came and made the gathering a success. I had a lot of fun, and I hope you all enjoyed it.
